THOMAS E. CHRISTMAN

A Certified Public Accountant with a BBA Degree in Accounting from Iona College and an MBA in Corporate Finance from Hofstra University. In 1981, Thomas joined the Board of St. Francis Hospital and served for many years, including a term as Chairman, and in the past also served on CHS’s Board, chairing the Finance Committee. He returned to the CHS Board in 2016 and serves as Chair of Governance and is a member of the Planning and Investment Committees. He presently also serves as Chair of CHS’s Continuing Care Board of Trustees.

Before retiring in 1990, he was Chairman and CEO of CM&M Group, Inc., where he had been appointed previously, at the age of 31, President and CEO. CM&M, a “primary dealer” in U.S. Government securities with offices in the U.S. Canada, France, London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan, was sold to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in 1983, with Thomas negotiating the sale and subsequently chairing HSBC’s Global Capital Markets Planning Committee.

For 10 years, he served as an independent director for Quick & Reilly (Q&R) and later developed international business activity for Q&R, launching a U.S. equities dealership in Switzerland and a joint venture with Japan’s Sanwa Bank.

Thomas has served as a member of the Board of ABR Information Systems, as well as Chairman of the Board of State Bank of Long Island until 2013. In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at St. John’s University and has guest-lectured at the New School for Social Research and Yale University.
